K9 Award, please see below for a brief description of what is expected for our K9 nomination.

1. Performance and Skill: The award should acknowledge the K9's exceptional performance and skill in carrying out their duties. This includes their ability to assist law enforcement officers in various tasks such as tracking suspects, detecting illegal substances like narcotics or explosives, apprehending suspects, or searching for missing persons.

2. Training and Obedience: K9 units undergo rigorous training to develop their skills and obedience. The award should recognize the K9's dedication to training and their ability to consistently follow commands and instructions from their handler.

3. Impact and Success: The award should take into account the K9's impact on law enforcement operations and their success in achieving positive outcomes. This could include factors such as the number of arrests made, the amount of illegal contraband detected, lives saved, or successful operations conducted with the assistance of the K9.

4. Bravery and Heroism: K9s often face dangerous situations alongside their human counterparts. The award should acknowledge acts of bravery, such as the K9's willingness to put themselves in harm's way to protect officers or civilians, or their role in apprehending dangerous suspects.

5. Partnership and Bond: The award should recognize the strong bond and partnership between the K9 and their handler. This includes the trust, communication, and teamwork that enables them to effectively work together and accomplish their objectives.

6. Service and Longevity: The award could also acknowledge the K9's years of service and longevity in the field. This recognizes their commitment and dedication to their role as a law enforcement K9.
